ATP Moldova has elected a new Board for the 2019-2021 mandate

The Association of Professional Translators of Moldova (ATP Moldova) has recently convened its General Assembly, which is traditionally summoned once every two years. The agenda of the event included several issues, among them – the discussion and adoption of the recently developed amendments to the ATP Statute and Regulations, the election, via open vote, of a new membership of the Association's Board and the election of the membership of other Association bodies.

Thus, in conformity to the new adopted amendments, the Board of the Association shall be elected for a period of three years (2019-2021) and shall include 6 members, namely: Alina Abramovich, Diana Şestacovschi, Ala Mătăsaru, Svetlana Chiriţa, Olesea Bodean and Eleonora Rusnac. The first five members of the Board shall have the decision making power and Ms. Eleonora Rusnac - the Honorary President of the Association, and the 6-th member of the Board, shall have the function of representation of the Association and act in the capacity of a mentor for the members of the Board. One member of the Board is supposed to also act as Executive Director of the Association during the first year of the three year mandate, after which another member of the Board shall take over this function. It is a temporary decision of the General Assembly, which is meant to be in force during this mandate. The member of the Board Ms. Alina Abramovich was elected to act simultaneously as the first Executive Director of the Association.

Other 2 new provisions, introduced by a majority vote to the ATP Moldova Statute and Regulations, refer to the possibility to exercise a remote voting via on-line messages and to the award of the honorary member status to certain members of the Association who contributed in a significant way to the activities of the Association.

The president of ATP Moldova Ms. Eleonora Rusnac presented a report on the activity of the Board of the Association during the reporting period.  She mentioned, in particular, the organization in 2017 and 2018 of two editions of the School of Professional Translators, respectively attended by 31 and 28 persons. Both training events were qualified as useful and au-to-date by the participants and they appreciated, in particular, the practical aspect of the courses.

A number of some other successes of the Board of the Association were also mentioned in the report, including the organization of two so-called "retreats" and the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Association's activity. The rapporteur concluded the presentation with a number of recommendations to the new Board, among them the improvement of the promotion activity of the Association and the establishment of additional cooperation links with similar foreign Associations.

Before the end of the General Assembly the president Eleonora Rusnac informed her colleagues that, in view of the fact that she acted as President of ATP Moldova all these 20 years, she would like to withdraw from this position and give the possibility to new people to take over the leadership of the Association. The General Assembly decided, nevertheless, that Ms. Eleonora Rusnac should continue being a member of the Board in the capacity of the Honorary President of the Association.
