Professional translators at the fourth edition of their Reatreat

Members of the Association of Professional Translators of the Republic of Moldova (ATP Moldova) met for the fourth time at their retreat reunion to discuss issues related to promotion and to exchange of experience in the field of translations. Mr. Ion Stăvilă, Ambassador, representative of the Ministry Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) of the Republic of Moldova and Mrs. Lucia Popovici, translator, editor-in-chief of the Polirom publishing house from Iasi, Romania attended the event as invited speakers.

Meeting with the occasion of the International Translator’s Day

It has already become a tradition to mark on September 30 the International Translators' Day.
On Saturday, September 28, the Association of Professional Translators of Moldova (ATP Moldova) in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Moldova and the Lawyer Office "DIGORE EDUARD" carried out a social event, aimed to draw the society’s attention to the translator/interpreter profession and to raise awareness to the contribution of translations to the society cultural life.

ATP Moldova has elected a new Board for the 2019-2021 mandate

The Association of Professional Translators of Moldova (ATP Moldova) has recently convened its General Assembly, which is traditionally summoned once every two years. The agenda of the event included several issues, among them – the discussion and adoption of the recently developed amendments to the ATP Statute and Regulations, the election, via open vote, of a new membership of the Association's Board and the election of the membership of other Association bodies.

Speech on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Asociation

Background

The Association of Professional Translators was founded on January 23, 1998 by a number of translators, 17 people altogether, active at that time in this area. On March 11, 1998 the Ministry of Justice issued the registration certificate of the Association of Professional Translators of Moldova. It is remarkable to mention that many of those who were at the beginnings continue, also at present, to be active members of the Association and I want to give their names: Elena Ciobanu, Natalia Alhazov, Iulia Timotin, Svetlana Chiriţa, Tatiana Durimanov, Lidia Cazacu, Tamara Burcă and the one speaking in front of you today. The incentives for the creation of the Association were simple and here I will read the statement made by our colleague Tamara Burca in this connection. I quote: "We felt the need to be together, to help each other and to promote ourselves on the translation market.  Besides, it is always important to talk to colleagues, to share with them certain difficult moments."
