15th anniversary of activity

On September 28th, 2013, ATP Moldova celebrated the its 15th anniversary of activity. The celebration was held on the eve of International Translator Day that is celebrated on September 30th. A brief overview of the Association’s main achievements was provided and future plans were highlighted. The Association members had the opportunity to meet with the Association founders and officials that supported and continue to support the Association activity.  

On September 28th, 2013, starting at 3pm, the Association of Professional Translators from Moldova celebrated the 15th anniversary of activity at the restaurant ”Bastion”. The Association was founded in February 1998 and is composed of 40 members that translate from/to English, French, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Italian and Russian. The Association members are professional translators highly appreciated by international organizations in Moldova, state institutions, enterprises and NGOs.  A large number of simultaneous translators in Moldova are members of the Association.    

The 15th anniversary was celebrated on the eve of International Translator Day held on September 30th. International Translator Day was established in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators, with the assistance of UNESCO. September 30th, 420, is the date when St. Jerome of Stridonium, a well-known translator of the Bible from Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic into Latin, passed away. This saint is considered a protector of all translators.

It was provided a brief overview of the Association main achievements and highlighted its future plans. A new version of the Association’s website was presented; it will be launched by the end of the year. The Association members had the opportunity to meet with the Association founders and officials that supported and continue to support Association activity.  Some internal and unknown aspects of translator’s activities were explained as well as the quality principles, respected by the Association members. 

The Association members, freelancers, former graduators of Translation School and honorable guests participated in the event.

The Association of Professional Translators, 15 years on translation market 

The Association of Professional Translators of the Republic of Moldova celebrates 15th anniversary of activity. The Association launched new website www.translators.md on this occasion, which provides a lot of information about members and performed activities. The Anniversary was celebrated on the eve of International Translator Day (on September 30th). The president and founder of the Association, Eleonora Rusnac, stated for IPN that after 15 years of activity the Association members are professional translators highly appreciated by international organizations in Moldova, state institutions, enterprises and NGOs.  The president noted that the image of the Association established within a few years was the biggest achievement of the Association. „I believe that our Association is already recognized on the market. We get many translation requests”, said Eleonora Rusnac. Another achievement is the establishment of the Translation School that offers courses of foreign languages. The Association collaborates with OSCE, the European Council and other important organizations.

One of the Association founders, Tamara Burca, said that translator profession was not easy but interesting.

The Association assistant director, Natalia Conovca, noted the strong competition on the market  and how important it is to be a good translator, i.e. to handle translation in every domain: from chemistry, medicine, physics to social assistance etc.
