On September 28th, 2013, starting at 3pm, the Association of Professional Translators from Moldova will celebrate our 15th anniversary of activity at the ”Bastion”restaurant.
The Association was founded in February 1998 and is composed of 40 members that translate from/to English, French, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Italian and Russian. The Association members are professional translators highly appreciated by international organizations in Moldova, state institutions, enterprises and NGOs. A large number of simultaneous translators in Moldova are members of the Association.
The 15th anniversary will be celebrated on the eve of International Translator Day held on September 30th. International Translator Day was established in 1991 by the International Federation of Translators, with the assistance of UNESCO. September 30th, 420, is the date when St. Jerome of Stridonium, a well-known translator of the Bible from Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic into Latin, passed away. The saint is considered a protector of all translators.
A brief overview of the Association’s main achievements will be provided and future plans will be highlighted. A new version of the Association website will be launched. The Association members will have the opportunity to meet with the Association founders and officials that supported and continue to support the Association activity. Some internal and unknown aspects of translator’s activity will be explained as well as the quality principles, respected by the Association members.
The Association members, freelancers, former graduators of Translation School and honorable guests will participate in the event.
