Year 2018 Retreat

This year retreat took place in July. It is questionable whether the period chosen for this event was or not the best one. The important thing, however, was the fact that the weather was beautiful, the chosen location - admirable and the host - welcoming. Being in a nice countryside and being together with colleagues made us feel comfortable and in high spirits. It is not very frequent for members of the Association to leave aside other tasks of the day and to choose to spend a day with their colleagues-translators. And yet, 15 people out of 40 members of ATP Moldova have done so, and none of them regretted their choice.

In-house training with Ecaterina Godoroja, trainer in communication and diction

"Why are we afraid of the audience?" This was the key issue of the training conducted by Mrs. Ecaterina Godoroja. Indeed! Why some interpreters do not feel comfortable in front of a large audience, lose their self-control, forget what they want to say and wish to run away and hide somewhere where nobody can see them, maybe even in the simultaneous interpretation booth. Some interpreters feel more comfortable in that little "cage" than in front of people, even if they lack the basic conveniences.

International Day of Translations, celebrated by the Association of Professional Translators of Moldova (ATP Moldova)

This year, 2017, the Association of Professional Translators of Moldova (ATP Moldova) celebrated the International Translation Day in an extended format, that is, with an invitation of all active translators of the country, including the ones of the Union of Authorised Translators (ATU). The event was organized within the premises of the Ministry of Justice with the support of the Service for certified interpreters, translators and administrators, represented by Ms Ina Chetrean - Head of the Service. The special guests of the event were Vlad Pohila - distinguished linguist, writer and journalist, and Valentin Reabtov - translator and interpreter on the staff of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The event was attended by many fellow translators and interpreters, freelancers both members of ATP Moldova and of different translation companies.
