International Translation Day 2011 – Translation is a bridge between cultures 

Traditionally, on September 30th, the international community celebrates Translation Day. 

This year the theme for International Translation Day was “Translation is a bridge between cultures”.

An ATP member obtained CNAA degree/diploma

The annual competition „The best doctoral dissertation of the year” was organized for the first time in 2011 by the National Council for Accreditation and Attestation (CNAA) under Regulation and aims to stimulate, to support and to develop scientific creativity of researches; to enhance quality and efficiency of performed researches; to highlight the works that address to the most innovative and up-to-date themes of modern science. Thus, during the last year, the Attestation Commission of CNAA identified 17 doctoral dissertations and PhDs under the suggestion of experts in certain domains.  After repeated evolution performed by CNAA 12 works were named as the best. The authors were awarded with the first, second and third degree of the CNAA diploma and money prizes contributed by research and education institutions represented by the authors.

ATP Moldova elected new Board of Directors

On February 5th, it was held the General Assembly of the Association of Professional Translators of Moldova was held. The Association elected a new Board of Directors.  This year the number of those present at the Assembly was more than in past years. The Assembly was a special one due to the guests present. Training courses for translators

On March 1-5, 2010, in Chisinau, were held training courses for translators were held: „Peculiarities of written, consecutive and simultaneous translation”. Six ATP members, assisted by other nine members, performed the trainings. 20 participants within 5 days benefited from an opportunity to learn in an applicable way about written, consecutive and simultaneous translation as well as the specifics of translator’s activity. Some participants took part in the trainings for the second time.

Christmas Soiree 2009

This year the Association of Professional Translators has celebrated Christmas as usual, but with special features added. For the first time Santa Claus came to greet us. The celebration started with beautiful carols performed by children from Hyperion lyceum from Durlesti and all of us present at the event joined their cheerful voices. Inspired by Jesus all participants took to hanging sayings from a Christmas tree that fitted perfectly each of them! The children’s dances from Durlesti became a key moment in the whole celebration. But the participants did not join them and enjoyed the performance only as spectators. What a pity that many colleagues missed this soulful experience!
